Electricity.
Do you ever wonder what makes lights turn on and off? Do you ever wonder what makes computers run? Well I have and now I know.
this magical energy source is called electricity! Electricity is a form of energy used in everyday life by everyone. It's very easey to use electricity, but can be very hard to make. First there are 2 different forms of electricity (or ways to make it). Those forms are solar and turbine. Solar energy comes from the sun and when it reaches Earth, people collect it in solar palnels. Turbine is created when a turbine spins inside a cooper coil to produce electricity. People use steam or running water to spin the turbine. If you want to power you house right now you're crazy.
you may think you not crazy, but if you tried power you house right now, you would probly end up with a fire. That's because eletricity is measured in volts and when the voltage is to high for a curtin wire the wire will melt usally causing a fire. So to fix this electricle plants send the eletricity through transformer. A transformer lowers the voltage or raises the voltage of electricity. Also to send the electricity from one trasformer to the other you need to use high voltage wire, wich means wire that can carry very high voltage electicity without melting. Now lets lear some fun ways to experiment!

Now that you know what electricity is and how you make it lets have some fun with it. Fist get an adult to help!
To do your experiments you first will need to get some items. You will need to get, a flashlight bulb,
or it might look like this!

some wire, a wire cutter or scisors, wire stippers, 3_D-cell batteries, and tape. First tape the 3 batteries together so that the + end touches the - end. Now tape a wire to the - end of the the bottom battery, and place the bulb on the + end of the top battery so that the black bottom touches. Take the other end of the wire, and tape it to the silver side of the bulb. IF YOU BULB DOES NOT LIGHT TRY A NEW BULB! If that still doesn't work make sure you have the batteries tapped right and check that the wire is touching the battery.
