What To Ask Yourself Before You Commit

You may want to get a dog right away, but it is important to make sure that you ask yourself these questions first:

  • Do I have the time it takes to care for a dog? Dogs need a lot of love and attention. If you are never home and/or always busy, then a dog may not be the best pet for you. You need to be able to walk your dog often, play with your dog, and train your dog. It takes time and care to do this.

  • What kind of dog do I want? If there are young children in your house, you may want a less aggressive dog. Terriers are energetic, but can be taught to calm down near small kids. Or do you want a show dog? Yorkshire terriers and siIky terriers are often used for show. No matter what show dog that you choose, make sure his/her life isn't just work and training. Or, you may be like me and just want a companion, or friend. Choose a dog that makes you happy, one that's like you! If you are energetic, get an energetic dog. If you ar calm, get a calm dog. If you are happy...
