Hi. Welcome to my wiki on Armadillos. Here you will learn a lot about Armadillos. Thanks for coming to my page!!
What are Armadillos??
Armadillos can be found in many places these days, but Armadillos originated in South America. They are mammals.
Also there are 20 different types of Armadillos.Wow!!! But you will learn about a lot about that later in my wiki. But, just like us, they have living relatives. The two closest living relatives to the Armadillo arethe Sloth and the Anteater. Also Armadillos have a shell, plus they can roll into a ball!! Whoa!! Armadillos are so cool!! An armadillos favorite thing to do is to dig, dig, dig. Thats where thay get their food. Thats a little bit on armadillos!!
This is a picture of an Armadillo.
What do Armadillos eat??
Armadillos have to eat and drink. So they drink, that is easy, but what do they eat?? Armadillos eat a variety of bugs, usually ones that destroy and eat plants. Like beetles and grubs. I bet your thinking, EWWWWWW!!! Gross!!! But no, not to them. They love to eat things that are gross and EWWW. Also they love to occasionally munch on some berries, and bird eggs. I felt really bad for those birdies. Hmp.

What is a Armadillo's Habitat like??
Every day, when you look out your window, do you see Armadillos wandering around?? I hope not, because Armadillos are located in marshy reigons, usually. And, most of our backyards are not marshy reigons. Plus they can live in wetlands with lots of shade and sandy soil. Specifically, by rivers, valleys, creeks, stockponds, and resovoirs. Now, think about everything I just said. Is your backyard like anything that I explained to you? Well if it was I would not like to be camping out at your house!! If you do happen to see an Armadillo, just don't go near it, okay??

Types of Armadillos
There are about 20 different types of Armadillos. First lets talk about the long nosed Armadillos. There are 6 long nosed Armadillos. First there is the Nine Banded Armadillo, which is the most common. Next there is the Great Long Nosed Armadillo, the Hairy Long Nosed Armadillo, and the Llanos Long Nosed Armadillo. Last but not least, there is the Seven Banded Armadillo, and the Southern Long Nosed Armadillo.

Next are the three Hairy Armadillos. They include the Andean Hairy Armadillo, the Hairy Armadillo, and the Little Hairy Armadillo. They are hairy, but not hairy like a bear. Their hair is very short and not all over their body. See Picture.....
A Large Hairy Armadillo
Next, we have the Giant Armadillo. There is only one species and it is the Giant Armadillo (of course!). It is not much bigger than the regular sized Armadillo, even though it's head and body length goes from 75 to 100 centimeters. (29.5 to 39.4 inches).

Now, again, we have another 1 species Armadillo. It is called the Six banded Armadillo, also known as the Yellow Armadillo. It is just like the Nine banded Armadillo because it looks the same except it has six bands instead of nine bands.
Six Banded Armadillo
Up next we have the smallest of small Armadillos. They are called the Pink Fairy Armadillo. They are cute and very small. But, they are not always pink. Sometimes they have a small amount of a light green on them. You should check them out!!!
